Discipline Policy

It is important that children develop appropriate social skills. The staff at Steppin’ Out On Faith Learning Center understands the development and social expectation of each age level of children. Guidance strategies that are developmentally age appropriate for the child are used. Above all, the child’s self-esteem is always protected. Some of the guidance methods employed by the staff are:

  1. Redirect the child to another activity

  2. Modeling the desirable behavior

  3. Demonstrating an understanding of the child’s feelings

  4. Suggesting alternative solutions

  5. When a child is out of control a short time out will be provided

Withdrawal Policy

The following procedures will take effect when specific behavior of a child becomes an instant threat to the safety or welfare to other children and/or staff.

  • First Step- Child is observed by director at the teacher’s request.

  • Second Step- Conference between parent and teacher to discuss the situation and possible solution

  • Third Step- Conference between parent, teacher and director. A Specific plan of action for a probationary period, alternate placement or removal may be determined at this time

  • Forth Step- Probationary period

  • Fifth Step- Withdrawal from the program

The Following are grounds for administration withdrawal of a child from Steppin’ Out On Faith Learning Center

  1. LATE TUITION.

  2. REPEATED FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH POLICIES OF STEPPIN’ OUT ON FAITH LEARNING CENTER.

  3. THE PRSENCE OF A CHILD WHO POSES A THREAT TO THE PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL OR MENTAL HEALTH OF OTHER CHILDREN.

  4. FAILURE TO PROVIDE UP-TO-DATE- HEALTH AND IMMUNIZATION RECORDS IN ACCORDANCE WITH POLICIES OF THE OAKLAND/WAYNE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT.
